The National Pollutant Release Inventory
Industry Related Activities
The National Pollution Release Inventory (NPRI) was created in 1992 to collect data on substances of concern in Canada. Its prime objective is to make information available to Canadians on the pollutant releasing facilities and the pollutants released in their communities. You can carry out a search to find the reporting facilities and their releases and transfers of pollutants in your neighborhood, by entering your postal code in the search engine at the query website.
The NPRI, created by a law with nation-wide application, is the only publically-accessible inventory of its kind in Canada. The data gathered are also useful in a wide range of prevention and pollution-fighting activities. The facilities targeted by the NPRI can obtain technical support by calling the numbers below, or by sending an email to: INRP_QC@ec.gc.ca.
