    The official policies of the WSIB are contained in the Operational Policy manual which is published on the WSIB website and distributed in hard copy to subscribers. Every effort has been made to ensure that the published text is identical to the minuted document approved by the WSIB's Board of Directors or President. In the event of a discrepancy between the published text and the minuted document, the minuted document prevails. Copies of minuted documents are available from the WSIB's Corporate Records. Please note that policies may be published in electronic form on this website before subscribers receive the hard copy.

    Criteria for Becoming a WSIB Website Partner
    Organizations wishing to be identified as a Partner on the WSIB website must meet the following criteria:
    • Be a not-for-profit (or other non-commercial) organization or government department that promotes workplace health and safety, health care and/or return to work, or services/information for persons with disabilities
    • Be in good standing with the WSIB (where covered)
    • Where requested by WSIB, provide a mutual link to our website from their site, if their site offers links
    • Wish to be specifically identified as a partner working with us to promote workplace health and safety and return to work
    Criteria for Links from the WSIB Website to an Organization's Website
    Government and not-for-profit (or other non-commercial) organizations with sites that offer information and/or services that help employers and workers with:
    • workplace health and safety
    • return to work
    • claims management issues
    • disability due to workplace injuries and illness
    • occupational disease identification and prevention
    • research into workplace injury and illness
    • workers' compensation
    • ergonomics
    • first aid obligations
    • health care for injured workers
    As a convenience to our users, in addition to links to government and non-profit organization websites, WSIB may also include links to events relating to any of the above topics on our Community NetWork page. Please note that inclusion of the event on the Community NetWork page, should not be construed as a recommendation or endorsement of the event by WSIB and further that WSIB will not be confirming the accuracy of any of the information contained in the event listing. Please contact the organization hosting the event to confirm any such information.


    Criteria for Links to the WSIB Website from an Organization's Website
    Permission to link an organization's site to the WSIB website is given if
    • the organization wishes to provide their customers with information about workplace safety and insurance.
    • the organization's website promotes workplace health and safety, and, in WSIB's sole opinion, is aligned with WSIB's vision.
    If you would like to become a WSIB partner, please e-mail us at wsibcomm@wsib.on.ca. To list your event on Community NetWork page, please fill out our e-mail form. The WSIB may decline to characterize an organization as a Partner, or to permit links to or from this website, in its sole discretion.


    WSIB Privacy Policy for the Internet
    The WSIB is charged with dealing with much information of a confidential nature. This has made us very sensitive to privacy issues on the Internet. For this reason, we have taken a "go-slow" approach to online transactions in this website to protect confidentiality of claims and account information.

    In general, you can visit our WSIB website without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. Our web servers collect domain names, not the e-mail addresses of visitors to our site. We use the statistics, such as the number of visits, the average time spent on the site, pages viewed, etc., in order to measure the use of our site and to improve our content.

    There are times, however, when we may need information from you. Examples include an e-mail address to respond to your questions, or your industry sector and postal code so we can match you with the sector or office and WSIB representative who can best serve you. We also provide e-mail links for your convenience to a number of our health and safety association partners. You are welcome to use this e-mail service to contact that organization directly from our site. We do not, however, share or provide access to the personal information we collect on this website with any third party, other than those who provide certain services to WSIB. These service providers acknowledge that WSIB that is bound by the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and must agree to respect this legislation and treat such personal information appropriately.

    There are some features of the site that use cookies. A cookie is a tiny piece of data that a website sends to your browser. This is stored on your hard drive so we can recognize you when you return to our site. Many browsers may be set to notify you when you receive a cookie.

    At times, we will also conduct online surveys to better understand the needs and profile of our visitors. At the time we conduct the survey, we will let you know how we intend to use the information collected.

    In addition to e-mail links to health and safety associations, the WSIB site provides links to other WSIB Partners. While we try to link only to sites that share our high standards and respect for privacy, we are not responsible for the content or the privacy practices employed by other sites.

    The terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Jurisdiction and venue shall be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
