New Optional Coverage Policies


There are several categories that are not automatically covered under the Workers' Compensation Act. These include:

- Sole Proprietors and Partners

- Municipal and First Nation Officials

- Casual Employees working outside the employer's normal industry

- Outworkers

- Persons acting in a Religious Function

- Volunteers

While these people are not automatically covered under the Workers' Compensation Act, they may opt to be covered by Workers' Compensation (instead of purchasing private insurance, for example).

As of January 1, 2007, new Optional Coverage Policies take effect. If you are considering the purchase of Optional Coverage, or have been covered under the previous policy, we encourage you to read through the policies below and contact us if you have any questions:
