Advanced Concrete -- Technologie de Pointe Relative au B‚ton

Advanced Concrete

The Advanced Concrete Program emphasizes environmentally responsible practices such as resource and energy conservation and the utilization of mineral and metallurgical by-products. It also examines factors governing durability.

The overall program objectives are to:

  • develop technology to enhance the durability and performance of concrete in new and conventional applications;
  • research, develop and promote the use of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly materials and technologies for the sustainable development of cement and concrete.

Areas of expertise include:

  • concrete technology
  • materials science
  • supplementary cementing materials (SCMs)
  • petrography and microanalysis of aggregates, SCMs and concrete
  • alkali-aggregate reaction
  • chemical admixtures and additives for concrete
  • compatibility of cement/SCMs/chemical admixtures
  • stabilization/solidification of wastes from industrial and mining processes
  • performance of concrete under high-temperature conditions
  • concrete durability
  • thermal properties of concrete
  • blended cements
  • high-performance concrete/high-strength
  • lightweight concrete
  • steel or synthetic fibre reinforced concrete
  • specialized innovative concrete
  • high-volume fly ash and slag concrete
  • technology transfer
