Prosthetic and Orthotic Program

Am I eligible?
All Manitoba residents who require prosthetic or orthotic services,
as prescribed by a medical practitioner, are eligible.
What is covered?
In most cases, Manitoba Health will pay 100% of the cost of:
- Limb prosthetic devices and services
- Limb and spinal orthotic devices and services
Devices and services can only be provided by a person who is
certified as a prosthetist or orthotist by the Canadian Board for
Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists.
How many claims may I make?
You may claim one device every two years unless there has been a
change in prescription or the initial device is damaged beyond repair.
Is there a deductible?
No deductible is required.
Who supplies these services?
Check the Yellow Pages under Orthopedic Appliances.
How do I submit my claim?
Claim forms can be sent to Manitoba Health by the providers of
prosthetic and orthotic devices.
In cases where you have purchased the device, please submit the
itemized receipt and prescription to:
