Bringing music to life. In 2002 the National Arts Centre Orchestra launched the "New Music Plan", commissioning Toronto's celebrated composer Alexina Louie and two other Canadian composers to create a variety of new works over a four-year period. Alexina's achievements in music span the worlds of dance, opera, film, and television. As one of Canada's most performed composers, her many accolades include two Juno Awards and the Order of Canada. For composers, there are few opportunities greater than a new work for full orchestra. In February 2006, the NAC Orchestra will premiere Alexina's most recent orchestral work. It's another example of why we truly are Canada's National Arts Centre.
