From Toronto to Rotterdam, via the NAC. Torontonian Robert Uchida so impressed NAC Summer Music Institute Artistic Director Pinchas Zukerman and Co-Artistic Director Patinka Kopec that he was invited, at age 23, to study at the Manhattan School of Music. Last fall, having earned his master's degree, Robert was appointed Associate Concertmaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra under Valery Gergiev. The NAC's Summer Music Institute is dedicated to seeking out and fostering exceptional musical talent in students all across Canada, and is another reason why we truly are Canada's National Arts Centre.
