Canadian Travel Survey and International Travel Survey

Reports and statistics on the characteristics and trends of the domestic and international travel markets to Ontario. Use these reports to find out, among other things:

  • The performance of Ontario’s tourism industry
  • Where the visitors come from
  • How much they spend in the province
  • What places they visit, and
  • What activities they engage in while they are here.

Travel Intentions Studies

A series of studies on the intentions of residents of Ontario and selected US states to travel to Ontario. Use these reports to find out:

  • Intentions to travel to Ontario over the next two seasons
  • Barriers of travel to Ontario
  • Visitors’ perceptions of the province as well as Toronto and Niagara Falls as a tourism destinations, and
  • Travellers’ trends regarding travellers’ behaviours and attitudes

Regional Tourism Profiles

Brief reports that combine travel statistics, economic impact data, hotel performance data and statistics on the size and composition of the tourism industry at the county/district level, the tourism region level and the provincial level.

Travel Activities and Motivations Survey

Reports on the size, characteristics, and behaviour of specific niche travel markets in North America. Use these reports for product development and marketing.

Business Conditions Survey: Accommodations Industry Reports

Quarterly reports regarding the future and most recent performance of the accommodation industry, including bookings, occupancy rates, room rates and hours worked by employees. This study also includes business impediments.

Impact Studies

Impact studies include research on the impact of various events and policies on travel, such as, 9/11, SARS health crisis and the western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

Other Studies

These are ad hoc studies investigating either supply-side or demand-side issues.
