The purpose of the evaluation, performed by EKOS Research Associates Inc. for the Electronic Funds Transfer Group, was to provide feedback and analysis on the nature and extent of operational adherence to the Canadian Code of Practice for Consumer Debit Card Services.
The Fraud Quiz and Fraud Files
The Fraud Files provides information on other types of fraud, such as telemarketing; includes video clips of interviews with the actual victims of fraud; and provides tips on how to protect yourself from fraud.
Canadian Code of Practice for Consumer Debit Card Services - Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC)
This voluntary code of practice has been developed through consultation with the Electronic Funds Transfer Working Group - which is made up of representatives from consumer organizations, financial institutions, retailers, and federal and provincial governments. The code outlines industry practices and consumer and industry responsibilities, which will help to protect consumers in their use of debit card services in Canada.
The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC)
The FCAC wants to know:
  • If you have difficulty finding out about your institution's complaint resolution process or experience problems using it.
  • If you believe your financial institution has not lived up to the Canadian Code of Practice for Consumer Debit Card Services.
