Access to Earth Initiative – 2007
In response to public requests, the Manitoba Floodway Authority has developed a plan to make earth available to the public from the floodway.
This year, the MFA will be expanding its Access to Earth Initiative with the
establishment of two separate earth depot locations (see
map). Weather
permitting, each depot will be opened from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm between the specific dates below:
SECTION 1 ST. MARY’S ROAD BRIDGE DEPOT
Tuesday, August 7 to Sunday, September 2
SECTION 2 DUFF ROBLIN PARK DEPOT
Tuesday, September 4 to Sunday, September 30
Located
just off Winnipeg’s north perimeter,
approximately two kilometers east of PTH 59
Please note:
- All applicants are welcome to access earth from either depot.
- There is no charge for the earth. Please note it is not topsoil, it is heavy earth and clay fill.
- Applicants are responsible for loading earth and all transportation costs.
- Earth will be available to applicants in order of arrival at the depot.
- For smaller vehicles (e.g. pick-up trucks and small trailers), MFA will have a loader available FOR FREE to assist with loading of earth on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
- Larger vehicles (e.g., semi-trailers) must supply their own loaders on all days and are encouraged to visit the depot Monday to Thursday.
If you intend to obtain earth at this year’s depot, please complete the Confirmation
of Registration and Waiver Form (347kb) and return it to the Manitoba Floodway
Authority before going to the depot. Passes can be mailed or picked up from
the MFA office at 200-155 Carlton Street.
Passes must be shown to the Depot Site Manager to enter the location.
