  • MRIF Projects, 2005-2010

The Canada-Manitoba Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (MRIF) is a $120 million infrastructure renewal fund, (announced in December 2004). MRIF's key priorities are cleaner air, safer water, and improved quality of life for all Manitobans, primarily in rural and northern communities. Rural and northern community and non-profit MRIF project applications with a completion date by March 31, 2011 continue to be accepted. Eighty per cent of MRIF is earmarked for communities with a population under 250,000. The remaining twenty per cent is for communities over 250,000.

  • CMIP Projects, 2000-2008

The Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Program (CMIP) is injecting over $180 million into Manitoba's urban, rural and northern municipal infrastructure over an eight-year period that began in October 2000. The Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Program (CMIP) approved a total of 177 projects between 2000 and 2005. The CMIP funds are fully allocated. Successful project applicants have until March 31, 2008 to complete their projects under CMIP.

  • CSIF Projects

Canada, Manitoba, and the City of Winnipeg are each contributing $55 million for a total investment of $165 million on a multi-year basis for strategic infrastructure priorities in Winnipeg. The tri-level funding is a contribution towards the $44.25 million construction of the Kenaston Underpass and a $166 million program of improvements to the City's wastewater treatment system. It is also facilitating a $43 million program of enhancements to Winnipeg's recreation and leisure facilities, including community centres, skateboard parks, and spray pads.
