Mediation, Investigation, Professional Development

Although the public hearing is the main activity of the Clean Environment Commission, from time to time the Commission and its members will be involved in additional activities. At the Minister’s request the Commission may become involved in mediation regarding contaminated site remediation and compensation. The Commission may also undertake investigations into specific environmental issues.

Professional development is an ongoing activity for Commissioners and staff. They are provided opportunities to add to their knowledge and skills, with respect to commission and tribunal processes and procedures, environmental assessment processes and procedures, sustainable development, aboriginal issues and general environmental awareness.
