About the Service Manitoba Fund  |  Previously funded projects

ABOUT THE SERVICE MANITOBA FUND

The Service Manitoba Fund targets innovations from provincial civil servants from all levels of government with the intent of saving costs and/or improving service for all Manitobans. To date, it has helped to assist and fund over thirty different projects from numerous departments throughout the government.

How good ideas work

The Service Manitoba Fund has been created to help civil servants implement new ideas. The goal is to provide funding to government employees whose innovations could improve service or reduce costs but lack the budget to put their ideas into action. The Fund provides a quick source of seed money to launch and test these innovative ideas within a department.

Ideas can be as simple as finding new ways to streamline processes, communicating more effectively with clients, or establishing brand new partnerships. Each fiscal year up to $100,000 will be available to fund such projects.

Funding criteria

The criteria is simple - your idea must:

  • improve service (internally or externally), and / or...
  • ...reduce the cost of doing government business without sacrificing service
  • respect government legislation, policy, & regulations

What are the benefits?

  • you get the opportunity to put your innovative ideas into action
  • savings from your innovation remain in your area
  • you will receive recognition for your contribution; successful ideas will be published, and you will also receive a Service Manitoba Fund certificate
