Ontario Energy Board Amendment Act (Electricity Pricing), 2003 (Bill 4)

The Ontario Energy Board Amendment Act (Electricity Pricing), 2003 ensures that low volume and designated consumers pay electricity prices which reflect the true cost of electricity, as a means of furthering fiscal responsibility and encouraging energy conservation.

Under this plan, the first 750 kilowatt-hours consumed by low-volume and designated consumers in any month is priced at 4.7 cents per kilowatt-hour and consumption above that level is priced at 5.5 cents per kilowatt-hour. This pricing plan will stay in place until the independent regulator, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), develops new mechanisms for setting prices by May 1, 2005.
