Educational tours are available at both official residences of the governor general of Canada: Rideau Hall in Ottawa and the Citadelle of Québec. Our school program will help you to learn more about the viceregal role while discovering an important historic site.

![Did you know? Did you know? Several governors general have been teachers or great champions of education. For example, His Excellency the Right Honorable David Johnston was a law professor and has made learning one of the pillars of his mandate. Governor General Roméo LeBlanc (1995-1999) taught high school before pursuing a career in politics. As well, to encourage academic excellence, many governors general have created awards or prizes, such as the Governor General’s Academic Medal, created in 1873 by Lord Dufferin (1872-1878).](/web/20131001223850im_/http://www.gg.ca/images/9999/bulleEN.jpg)
