Family Law Centre
This Toronto-based site is run by practising lawyer Joel Mitchell. Very extensive information on many aspects of family law in Canada, including directories of family lawyers in most provinces in Canada. You will also find a "Cases and Comments" section with links to background papers, case examples, etc.

International Campaign Against Sharia Court in Canada
This group, co-ordinated by Homa Arjomand, specifically opposes the Ontario Arbitration Act 1991 "which recognizes the Islamic Court in Canada under the pretext of "religious freedom," "tolerance" and cultural sensitivity. " (quoted from the web site) The site is a good source of background information on the issue of Sharia law in general, and its implications for women.

LEAF -- Women's Legal Education and Action Fund
LEAF is a national non-profit organization working to promote equality for women and girls in Canada. Using the equality provisions from section 15 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as a basis to advance women's rights, LEAF presents arguments, or intervenes, in cases where women's rights are at risk in Canadian courts.

Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia
Here you will find many useful publications, some of which are available for downloading (free) and printing. You can get basic legal information on such legal areas as Family Law, including Family Court, Divorce, and others; Landlord and Tenant; Criminal Law, including Peace Bonds, Sexual Assault, Wife Abuse, and others. This site will also tell you about the Society's other services, including Lawyer Referral service.

National Association of Women and the Law (NAWL)

Women Winning the Vote in Canada
