Abstract:

Objectives:
To determine a no-effect level for zooplankton communities exposed to Neem concentrations in replicate pond enclosures; to determine the fate of Neem (azadirachtin) in the pond enclosures, water and bottom sediments; and, to assess the ecological significance of perturbations to zooplankton communities.

Sault Ste. Marie

Key Deliverables:
Paper- Fate and effects of Neem in pond enclosures; Journal Articles - Effects of Neem on zooplankton community structure and productivity in pond enclosures; and, Ecological implications of perturbations to zooplankton communities from exposure to Neem insecticides.

Expected Benefits:
The data will be used in a risk assessment to determine the environmental safety of Neem-based insecticides for forestry as part of the registration process.
